According to petmd.com your senior dog should be getting between 30 minutes to 2 hours of exercise daily.
However, just like people who are out of shape and are starting to walk again, you want your older dog’s exercise to be gentle and you want to gradually add time to your dog’s walk(s) over a period of weeks.
Let’s say you are walking your dog for 15 minutes, twice a day. Try adding 5 minutes per walk for week 1 (2-20 minute walks a day). Week 2 add 5 more minutes (2-25 minute walks a day), and for Week 3 add 5 more minutes (2-30 minute walks a day).
